The following applications are covered by this shared Privacy Policy:
- spectacled Notes

The applications are available for Android, iOS, Desktop platforms, and as a web application.
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- Mobile applications distributed via Google Play, Apple App Store, and F-Droid
- Desktop applications distributed via GitHub or other direct downloads
- The web application version
- The project website and related documentation pages
2. Privacy by Design
spectacled is designed around open standards such as CalDAV and iCalendar. The applications are intended to work with servers chosen by the user, including self-hosted servers or third-party CalDAV providers.
We aim to minimize data collection wherever technically possible. Your notes, journal entries, tasks, and synchronization data are generally stored on infrastructure selected and controlled by you or your chosen provider.
3. Data Processed by the Applications
Depending on how you use spectacled, the applications may process the following categories of data:
- Notes, journal entries, and task data
- CalDAV account configuration
- Synchronization metadata
- Attachments and related files
- Application settings and preferences
- Technical logs and error information
This data is processed locally on your device and/or transmitted to your chosen CalDAV server in order to provide synchronization functionality.
4. CalDAV Servers and Third-Party Providers
spectacled connects to CalDAV servers configured by the user.
If you use a third-party CalDAV provider, the processing of your data by that provider is governed by their own privacy policies and terms. Techbee e.U. is not responsible for the data processing practices of third-party server operators.
Users are responsible for selecting and managing their preferred CalDAV infrastructure.
5. Web Application and Proxy Infrastructure
The web application version of spectacled may use technical proxy infrastructure or intermediary services in order to enable browser-based communication with CalDAV servers.
Such infrastructure is operated solely for technical communication purposes and is not intended for profiling, advertising, or analytics-based tracking.
Technical connection data may be processed temporarily to provide and secure the service, including:
- IP addresses
- Request metadata
- Server responses
- Security and abuse-prevention logs
These logs are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for operational and security purposes.
6. Analytics and Tracking
spectacled is intended to operate without invasive advertising or user profiling.
If analytics, crash reporting, or diagnostic tools are used in certain distributions or platforms, they will be limited to what is necessary for application stability, security, and improvement.
Platform providers such as Google Play or Apple may independently collect analytics or usage information according to their own privacy policies.
7. Open Source Components
Parts of spectacled may be published as open source software.
Public contributions submitted through platforms such as GitHub may include publicly visible information, including usernames, profile information, commit metadata, issue reports, and discussion content.
Users contributing to public repositories should avoid submitting sensitive personal information.
8. Legal Basis for Processing
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, processing is based on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract or provision of requested functionality
- Legitimate interests in maintaining secure and functional applications and infrastructure
- Compliance with legal obligations
- User consent, where legally required
9. Data Retention
Data stored locally within the applications remains under the control of the user.
Technical logs and operational data are retained only for as long as necessary to operate, secure, and improve the applications and related infrastructure.
Users may delete application data at any time by removing local application data or deleting information from their selected CalDAV server.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:
- The right to access your data
- The right to rectification
- The right to erasure
- The right to restriction of processing
- The right to data portability
- The right to object to processing
- The right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
11. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
12. Children’s Privacy
spectacled is not directed toward children under the age required by applicable law for independent consent to digital services.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
13. International Transfers
Depending on your chosen server provider, data may be processed in countries outside your jurisdiction.
